Huge Jamaican & Asian music event heads to Liverpool for Bank Holiday weekend

  • August 12, 2022
  • Editor

A huge hip hop, reggae, dub and jungle event is taking place at The Blossom Tree in Liverpool in celebration of Asian and Jamaican culture.

Taking place on Saturday 27th August from 7pm, the unique event is a collaboration between Liverpool’s 20 Winston Records and London based Kamani Records and will feature a host of top talent including MC Solomon.

The exciting fusion event will feature artists who have an Asian or Jamaican background, including Jack Tyson Charles (son of Craig Charles), Keem, Felcon, Baby Flxcko, Silver Finger Singh, Rebelyous and DJs Gaz and Vinny Speare. The ‘first of its kind’ showcase will also see the legendary MC Solomon launch his latest album, Behind The Mask.

Kamani Record CEO, MC Solomon, has been on a mission to show the world the quality of Indian hip hop and his latest album has been highly anticipated. After performing at Glastonbury and with the likes of  Skinnyman and Akala, as well as organising the Goa Hop festival, MC Solomon comes to Liverpool to show off his new material courtesy of a collaboration with 20 Winston Records.

20 Winston Records owner Rakeem Abiru, who is also performing on the night, said: “I’m really excited about this night. It’s a very unique event as it brings together different cultures and artists with Asian and Jamaican backgrounds — a melting pot of different sounds and styles from hip hop and jungle to reggae and dub.”

He continued: “It’s also a very special collaboration between Liverpool and London — with some exceptional talent from both the North and the South. We have the likes of Craig Charles’ son Jack Tyson Charles and they have a great roster of talent led by the incredible MC Solomon — he’s a titan of Indian hip hop so it’s really exciting to have him up here for his album launch!”

The event is being held at the popular new venue, The Blossom Tree — a shisha restaurant, bar and events space located on Myrtle Street, just further up from Hardman Street. The night starts at 8pm, with a host of top artists from London and Liverpool and DJs taking the night into the early hours on the Bank Holiday weekend.

The celebration of Asian and Jamaican music, along with the launch of MC Solomon’s ‘Behind The Mask’ album, is set to be one of the biggest events this August Bank Holiday weekend. The night is being hosted by Liverpool’s 20 Winston Records and London’s Kamani Records, as an exciting ‘first of its’ kind showcase.
