LMA future filmmakers get a taste of Hollywood

Future filmmakers, studying at LMA will have access to top-class training based on the latest Hollywood post production tools as part of a new collaboration.

The University, which has campuses in Liverpool and London, has joined forces with world-renowned creative video technology company Blackmagic Design to deliver industry-leading post production courses using state-of-the-art tools and facilities.

The partnership will mean every Film and TV degree student at LMA will also be accredited in DaVinci Resolve. Used by high-end professionals working on feature films and television shows, DaVinci Resolve combines editing, colour correction, visual effects, motion graphics and audio post-production all in one software tool.

Working with Blackmagic Design as part of the company’s Education Partner Program, the collaboration adds LMA to a European-wide initiative that will empower a whole new generation of creatives.

Wendy Baugh, Education Relationship Manager for Blackmagic Design EMEA, said:

“We’ve been incredibly impressed by LMA’s approach to teaching the creatives of tomorrow. It became clear early on that we shared a similar vision and that we could help to accelerate and enhance their courses.

“There’s no doubt that by embedding DaVinci Resolve into the University’s teaching and the masterclasses we have planned, LMA students will have the edge over their peers when applying for roles within the field.

“We’re now working closely with the LMA team to embed our training content as part of its curriculum and compile a schedule to ensure every student can access that knowledge.”

As part of the relationship, Blackmagic Design will also help students forge closer links with the industry to help boost their career options.

Simon Wallace, the co-founder of LMA, said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Blackmagic Design on board and are extremely excited about the opportunities that it will open for our students.

“We pride ourselves on giving students hands-on experience and access to industry professionals who work, or have worked on, incredible projects, so our partnership with Blackmagic will take this up a notch.

“We want our film and TV graduates to leave us industry-ready and prepared to compete against the sector’s very best – and we’re confident that this latest collaboration will help them do just that.”
