Liverpool 2018 – 10th Anniversary Of Capital Of Culture

Liverpool 2018 is going to be one very special year as the city marks the tenth anniversary of Capital of Culture. The first wave of events have now been announced as to what we can expect for a year of incredible impressive events across the city, celebrating the city’s culture and creativity.

The events announced so far include;

China’s First Emperor And The Terracotta Warriors (9 February 2018 – 28 October 2018)

Liverpool’s World Museum will showcase Figures from China’s famous Terracotta Army which are going on show in a UK museum outside London for the first time in more than 30 years.

China Dream (16 February 2018 – 31 October 2018)

The Chinese year beginning in 2018 is The Year of the Dog and will kick off a successful year for the city which the celebrations will not only be bigger than ever, but will also signal the start of a nine-month festival of the best Chinese contemporary art and culture.

Tate Liverpool At 30 (30 March 2018 – 23 September 2018)

Celebrating its 30th birthday by putting together a mixture of modern and contemporary art.

Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta (25 May 2018 – 28 May 2018)

The River Mersey will welcome back the Tall Ships over the late May Bank Holiday Weekend. Linking a trio of vibrant port cities, Liverpool, Dublin and Bordeaux.

Liverpool Biennial: Beautiful World Where Are You? (14 July 2018 – 28 October 2018)

Liverpool’s Biennial’s 10th edition in 2018 will see specially commissioned works from international artists showcased across the city for free over 15 weeks.

Clipper Round The World Yacht Race (1 July 2018 – 31 July 2018)

Liverpool will welcome back the fearless amateur adventurers of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in late July, 11 months and over 40,000 gruelling nautical miles after they left the Albert Dock in Summer 2017.

Rewire (14 September 2018 – 6 October 2018)

A major new art and technology commission where FACT and Invisible Flock work alongside people of the Toxteth and Dingle communities.

On January 11 2018, 10 years to the day since the People’s Opening of European Capital of Culture took place, will bring an official announcement of the first half of the 2018 programme of events throughout the year.
