Clap for Carers returns as Clap for Heroes

Thursday (7th January) at 8pm Clap for Carers will return under a new name of Clap for Heroes.

The initiative’s founder, Annemarie Plas, introduced the weekly applause for front-line NHS staff and other key workers which ran for 10 weeks during the UK’s first coronavirus lockdown last spring.

Clapping for all our amazing heroes, Doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, emergency services, armed services, public transport staff, delivery drivers, porters, shop workers, teachers, waste collectors, manufacturers, postal workers, cleaners, vets, engineers and all those who are out there making an unbelievable difference to our lives in these challenging times.

Ms Plas a Dutch national living in London hopes it will again become a weekly event.

Clap for Heroes comes as the country enters a third lockdown.

People again are invited to safely take to their doorsteps, windows, gardens and balconies to join in the national tribute.

Ms Annemarie Plas tweeted:

‘We are bringing back the 8pm applause, in our 3rd lockdown.

‘I hope it can lift the spirit, of all of us. Carers teacher, homeschooling parents, those who shield and ALL who is pushing through this difficult time! Please join & share! #clapforheroes.’

Clap For Our Our Carers will continue to evolve its vision, with plans including an annual national event – Clap For Our Carers Day – taking place on 25th March 2021 (one year on from the first applause).

Join in the nationwide round of applause to pay tribute to the “heroes” who have played their part in the battle against coronavirus.

You can join in on doorsteps and balconies (wearing masks and at a safe social distance) across the UK this Thursday at 8pm, let’s show our appreciation to all our heroes!

Thank you to all our heroes!
