A total of 1,191 runners crossed the finish line at the BTR Wirral 10K 2026 on Sunday 11 October, as the popular running event returned to New Brighton for its 13th staging.
The event saw competitors take on a fast and relatively flat course along the Wirral waterfront, with this year’s race featuring a slightly revised route starting and finishing on King’s Parade, next to The Dips.

It marked the final competitive race of 2026 for organisers BTR Liverpool, with runners of all abilities coming together for the annual 10K challenge.
Joseph Boden of Wallasey AC claimed victory, completing the course in an impressive 31 minutes and 59 seconds.
His clubmate Oliver Chadwick finished just three seconds behind in 32 minutes and 2 seconds, while Elliot Clayton of Warrington AC secured third place with a time of 33 minutes and 9 seconds.
The result continued an outstanding year for Boden and Chadwick, who have now achieved a hat-trick of podium finishes across BTR events.
The pair previously finished first and second respectively at the BTR Mersey Tunnel 10K in April. In June, Boden went on to win the BTR Port Sunlight 5K, while Chadwick claimed victory in the Port Sunlight 10K.
Bethany Ord was the first female finisher, crossing the line in 37 minutes and 51 seconds.
Harriet Jones of Vale Royal AC followed closely in second place with a time of 37 minutes and 59 seconds, while Naomi Alleyne of Wirral AC completed the women’s top three in 38 minutes and 23 seconds.
All 1,191 finishers received a commemorative medal, T-shirt and goody bag in recognition of their achievements.

The scenic out-and-back course took runners from King’s Parade past the boating lake and along Ian Fraser Walk towards Fort Perch Rock.
Competitors then followed the promenade towards Seacombe Ferry, reaching the halfway turnaround point before heading back towards New Brighton.
With its relatively flat terrain and gentle inclines, the course proved ideal for runners looking to complete their first 10K or chase a personal best.

Alan Rothwell, BTR Liverpool Founder, commented:
“Well done to all 1,191 runners who came out, raced, and crossed the finish line of this year’s BTR Wirral 10K. Spectators were out in force cheering on runners, and always a big thank you to our brilliant volunteers – they really are the backbone to every BTR event.
“Congratulations to our winners, showing real grit and determination. And well done to Joseph and Oliver from Wallasey AC recording a hat-trick of podium places across this year’s BTR race portfolio. What a way to sign off the competitive BTR races for 2026, it’s been quite a year.
“We now turn our attention to the UK’s biggest festive 5K fun run – the BTR Liverpool Santa Dash on Sunday 6 December. It’s a memorable day for all the family to come together to walk, jog, or dash through the streets of Liverpool.”
