You can donate unwanted football boots at Goodison Park this weekend

This weekend Everton fans will have a chance to donate unwanted football boots to needy children across Merseyside and beyond.

Christmas brings new football boots to a legion of young fans, making this ‘boot drop’ an ideal opportunity to donate old boots of any size to Goodison for reconditioning and distribution to aspiring young footballers who cannot afford their own.

Previous boot drops held at Goodison by Charityboots.org have seen them generously donated by the charity to the Unity Youth Centre, based in Toxteth.

And going forwards, the dedicated drop-off container will again be in place in front of the Dixie Dean gates on Goodison Road this Sunday, ahead of the Premier League game v Tottenham Hotspur.

Neil Smith, founder of Charityboots.org, added:

“It’s a real pleasure to be back at Goodison as we relaunch the charity boot drops.

“On our previous visits, the Everton fans really got behind the initiative and we saw people of all ages coming to drop off used boots.

“The best part is that we were able to donate these boots directly back into the community to a youth club in Toxteth.

“We’re so looking forward to meeting supporters again this weekend and helping to provide more football boots to kids in local areas.

“Every boot will be reused for a good cause, either recycled or donated to a kid who needs them.

“We change the inner soles, change the laces, give the boots a deep clean and bring them back to life.

“It’s a full circle, but the real concept is to close the gap of poverty and, from an environmental point of view, to reduce waste.

“It’s got so much value, so we are fully behind this and with the support and love from Everton fans and club, hopefully we can make a big difference.”

Charityboots.com have also placed a dedicated drop-off bin at Finch Farm, where it remains in place for players and staff to contribute to the appeal.

The charity also has free shipping with DHL for anyone wishing to donate, you can find out more on their website.
