A landmark destination on the city’s waterfront is undergoing a significant transformation as it evolves from a unique attraction into a dedicated hub for community-led wellness and accessibility.
Work is now underway on a major expansion of Wyld Sauna at Princes Dock.
Since launching in November 2024 as the UK’s first floating sauna, the site has welcomed thousands of guests.
This next phase, set to complete in early summer, has been shaped directly by visitor feedback to ensure the space is more than just a place to sauna, but somewhere every resident feels comfortable and included.
A Focus on Inclusivity and Accessibility
A primary goal of the redevelopment is to create one of the UK’s first fully wheelchair-accessible saunas.
The project includes the installation of a lift to improve access to the dock, alongside internal design changes to support guests with limited mobility.
Policies such as companion passes will also be introduced to further support these accessibility goals.
The expanded site will host a broader programme of sessions curated by Liverpool’s diverse communities.
This includes dedicated sessions to foster welcoming environments for LGBTQ+ safe spaces and initiatives aimed at combatting the loneliness epidemic through over-60s events.
The schedule will also feature regular women-only and silent sessions to suit different preferences.
To ensure the space continues to reflect the needs of the city, a new Board of Culture will be established to help guide the future direction of the site.
Upgraded Facilities and New Offerings

The original floating sauna will be refurbished and upgraded during the project. Improvements include enhanced benches, new flooring, additional cold plunges, and upgraded sauna heaters for more consistent heat delivery.
While the expansion work takes place, Wyld’s current facilities will remain fully operational, with the team committed to minimising disruption for existing members and visitors.
Alongside the thermal experiences, Wyld is introducing a new food and drink offering.
This will begin with fresh pastries and coffee in the mornings, evolving throughout the day into a tailored menu featuring fresh juices, Neapolitan pizzas, and natural wines.
Connecting the Community
Jon Miller, Co-Founder of Wyld Sauna, said:
“Wyld was never meant to be just a sauna, it’s about creating a space where people feel welcome, included and connected.
“This next phase is all about listening to our community and responding in a way that’s meaningful.
“From the facilities to the programming, every decision has been intentional.
“We want to create something that genuinely reflects the people who use it and the city it belongs to.
“The team and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported us and provided feedback along the way, we’ve felt your patience, and it’s helped shape what comes next.”
The expansion continues the partnership between Wyld Sauna and Peel Waters, the specialists behind the Liverpool Waters regeneration.
Liza Marco, Senior Asset Manager at Liverpool Waters, added:
“Wyld Sauna has become such a special and unique part of Liverpool Waters, not only because of the quality of their offer, but because their values align so closely with our own.
“Their focus on wellbeing, inclusivity and community has created a truly welcoming space on the waterfront, and it perfectly complements Peel Waters’ ambition to bring forward innovative, memorable and meaningful experiences for the people who live, work and visit here.
“Working with forward-thinking businesses like Wyld and supporting them to grow is a key part of our aspirations for Liverpool Waters.”
Further details regarding the expanded facilities and the full summer programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
