To celebrate Liverpool Music Month, The Halcyon Syncopators are set to transport audiences across the Atlantic with their upcoming performance, Jazz On A May Night.
On Saturday 23 May, the ensemble will tune into the sounds of New York City for a special evening of music at Sefton Park Cricket Club.
The performance is a celebration of all things New York, featuring a diverse repertoire that captures the energy and atmosphere of the Big Apple.
The programme includes iconic tracks such as Billy Joel’s New York State of Mind, Bobby Darin’s Sunday In New York, and the Duke Ellington classic Echoes of Harlem.
A Journey Through the Sound of Manhattan
Audiences can expect a sophisticated journey through jazz history, featuring Manhattan and a medley of tunes from the famous musical 42nd Street.
The evening will also showcase Broadway by Count Basie and a brand-new arrangement of Autumn in New York by the group’s own Coby O’Brien.
The night would not be complete without a rendition of the Frank Sinatra classic, New York New York.
Sharing the vocal honours for this performance are Tyrone Lewis, Rebecca Loy, and Jemimah Akaunu.
Together with the full ensemble, they will bring these timeless arrangements to life in the relaxed, summertime setting of Sefton Park Cricket Club, a favourite local venue for seasonal music.
