Strictly St. Joseph’s 2023 applications are now open!

Strictly St. Joseph’s 2023 applications are now open!

St. Joseph’s Hospice in Thornton is on the lookout for twelve contestants to take on its Strictly St. Joseph’s charity challenge in 2023. Could you become the Strictly Champion 2023?

If you enjoy a boogie around the kitchen, and have always fancied yourself as a contestant on Strictly, this is the challenge for you.

Strictly St. Joseph’s 2023 applications are now open!

All participants will be partnered with a professional dancer from Marshside School of Dance and will receive a series of dance lessons, before performing live at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool on Saturday 23rd September. All contestants will also learn a group dance, which they will perform all together.

Maxine Armstrong, head of fundraising and lottery at St. Joseph’s Hospice, said:

“This is a fantastic way to support the hospice and a wonderful opportunity to learn to dance. Last year, our Strictly dancers raised over £10,000 for the hospice, providing vital funding for our patients.”

Last year’s Strictly St. Joseph’s Champion, Joseph McEvoy, from West Derby, performed a rock and roll routine to Jailhouse Rock with his professional partner Grace. The pair will return this year to perform their winning routine.

Joseph said:

“I had so much fun taking part in Strictly St. Joseph’s last year and I met some wonderful people. It was the highlight of my year and I’d recommend it to anyone.”

Maxine continued:

“We launched our Strictly event in 2021, after 18 months of not being able to hold any fundraising events due to the pandemic, and it has been a fantastic success. It is the perfect challenge for anyone who has watched Strictly and dreamt what it would be like to hit the dancefloor with a professional.

“We’re looking for twelve people, aged over 18, to take part. Each contestant will be partnered with a professional dancer and allocated a specific dance style before beginning their training. They will then receive a series of dance lessons and must be prepared to help us raise lots of money for the hospice. This is also a great opportunity for local businesses to support the hospice by putting one of their team forward for the challenge and raising sponsorship.”

Watch the dances from last year’s event by visiting the Strictly page on their website www.stjhospice.org.uk or visit YouTube channel.

Applications for Strictly St. Joseph’s are now open! To sign up, or to find out more about this fabulous opportunity, you can give the fundraising team a call on 0151 932 6044 or email fundraising@stjhospice.org.uk
