The Salvation Army’s beloved visitor attraction, Strawberry Field Liverpool, today unveiled its festive Christmas calendar of events, activities, and inspiring gift ideas, running from November 22.
Kicking off the festive season, Strawberry Field will host its annual Christmas craft fair on November 22. The craft fair is set to showcase some of Liverpool’s finest local makers, with unique gifts to open on Christmas morning. Strawberry Field will return to All Hallow’s Church for its annual charity concert ‘Celebrating Christmas with Strawberry Field and All Hallows’. Taking place on November 29, the concert will feature performances by Liverpool Walton Salvation Army Band and All Hallows Choir. BBC Radio Merseyside’s Paul Beesley will serve as the evening’s compère, with proceeds from the concert split between All Hallows Church in celebration of its 150th anniversary, and Steps at Strawberry Field, a series of programmes designed to help young adults overcome barriers to employment.
From November 30 to December 23, visitors to Strawberry Field can indulge in a new, delicious Christmas menu at its Imagine More Cafe, while taking in views of the peaceful gardens. The menu will include loaded turkey croque monsieur’s, cheese boards and festive hot chocolates.
Strawberry Field will host The Songs The Beatles Gave Away: An evening with Colin Hall and Mark Pountney on Thursday 4 December. The event promises to explore the far reaches of The Beatles songbook, as Colin Hall, accompanied by respected musician Mark Pountney, tells the story of the hits, misses and demos that John, Paul and John wrote but never released. Tickets cost £10 and include Christmas themed nibbles and a winter warmer welcome drink.
On Wednesday, 17 December, it will host its first-ever ‘Knitivity’, a creative retelling of the journey to Bethlehem through music and storytelling. The family-friendly, interactive event will feature a unique knitted Nativity scene, introducing characters from Mary and Joseph to shepherds, angels, and kings, as they come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
On Tuesday 23 December, Father Christmas will be at Strawberry Field for some festive storytelling. Families are invited to bring their children for stories told by Santa, over hot chocolate and cookies. Tickets cost £10 per child and include a special goody bag.
Those looking for something different to do around Christmas and New Year can visit Strawberry Field to learn the history and how it inspired a young John Lennon. Visitors can enjoy 10% off when they book tickets online 24 hours in advance of their visit.
