Strawberry Field has been awarded Gold Green Tourism certification, placing the iconic Liverpool attraction among a small and respected group of leading sustainable visitor destinations in the Liverpool City Region.
The internationally recognised accreditation confirms that Strawberry Field has exceeded some of the most rigorous sustainability standards in the tourism sector. Green Tourism assesses organisations against robust criteria aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, covering areas including energy use, waste management, biodiversity, health and wellbeing, and equality, diversity and inclusion.
Achieving Gold status demonstrates that Strawberry Field is operating at the very highest level of responsible and sustainable tourism practice.
Assessors praised Strawberry Field’s clear and accessible sustainability information, highlighting a dedicated section of its website that outlines key environmental initiatives while actively encouraging visitors to get involved. The team’s passion for environmental responsibility and local stewardship was also noted as being evident throughout the assessment process.

The report recorded improvements across almost all assessment categories, with particularly strong scores in Health and Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion — reflecting Strawberry Field’s inclusive ethos and commitment to creating safe, welcoming experiences for all. Newly installed sustainability signage was described by assessors as “some of the best seen – simple and highly effective.”
With this achievement, Strawberry Field now joins a limited group of Gold-certified organisations in Merseyside, alongside venues such as ACC Liverpool and Sunnyside Guest House. Notably, Strawberry Field is the only visitor attraction in Liverpool to currently hold a Gold Green Tourism award — underlining its position as a regional leader in sustainable and responsible tourism.
