Spooky Welly Walk returns to Liverpool’s Sefton Park for a fang-tastic Halloween adventure

Liverpool’s much-loved Spooky Welly Walk is returning to Sefton Park on Saturday 24 October 2026, bringing a day of Halloween-themed family fun, creepy crafts and spooky entertainment to the city.

Organised by Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the popular fundraising event is expected to attract 9,000 participants, with families invited to dress up in their best Halloween costumes and take on a two-mile trail through one of Liverpool’s most iconic parks.

Starting at the famous Sefton Park Obelisk, affectionately known as The Needle, the walk will take children and their families on a spooky adventure filled with interactive activities, entertainment and plenty of surprises along the way.

Designed especially for children aged three to eight, the Spooky Welly Walk offers a screen-free Halloween experience, with witches, werewolves, ghosts and little monsters all encouraged to join the fun.

This year’s attractions include the Bugfest Beauty Parlour, Creepy Crafts, a Freaky Funfair and slime-making stations, giving youngsters plenty of opportunities to get creative and enjoy some Halloween mischief.

Most activities are included in the ticket price, making the event an affordable family day out during the October half-term period.

At the end of the trail, children will be greeted by the legendary Spooky Welly Walk witch before receiving a special medal to celebrate completing their Halloween adventure.

The event has become a firm favourite in Liverpool’s autumn calendar, bringing thousands of families together while raising vital funds for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

All proceeds from the Spooky Welly Walk will support the charity’s life-saving work across Merseyside and the UK, helping people affected by lung cancer and supporting the foundation’s ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for patients.

Previous participants have praised the event for its welcoming atmosphere, organisation and range of activities.

One visitor, Tanya, said:

“This was our first Spooky Welly Walk and we absolutely loved it. So well organised, so much to do – already excited for next year!”

Another participant, Anna, added:

“Massive thank you to all the volunteers – everyone was so friendly and helpful. The kids had a blast from start to finish.”

Natalie described the experience as:

“A magical Halloween event for the whole family. Thank you for a fantastic day!”
