Southport Artisan Market is back for its third outing during the May Bank Holiday weekend, adding to the many reasons for families to visit the town as the Big Top Festival also arrives.
Visitors can look forward to dozens of stalls lined up alongside King Street, situated to the front of Southport Market, between 10 am and 4 pm this Saturday, 2 May 2026.
Southport Market will also be open throughout the day, offering a delicious array of street food and drink from a variety of local independent traders.
To make the weekend more accessible, visitors can take advantage of a Merseyrail deal where return train travel from anywhere on the network to Southport is only £2 for adults and £1 for children on event days.
Entertainment and Global Acts
The Big Top Festival will be taking place across five performance stages on Lord Street and the surrounding areas this Saturday and Sunday.
The festival welcomes acts from across the globe as well as local talent from the town itself. It is free to attend and offers families the opportunity to participate in activities such as stilt walking and juggling alongside world-class circus acts.
Lisa Cowley, the owner of Independent Street, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming weekend:
“We’re so excited to be back in Southport for our artisan market.
“Over the last two months, this event has really been building momentum and has received a fantastic response from the local community.
“There’s already such a buzz around the Big Top Festival this weekend, and we can’t wait to be part of it on Saturday!
“This month, all of our stalls will be located outdoors on King Street, keeping us right in the heart of the action.”
Supporting Local Artisans

Southport Artisan Market serves as a celebration of creativity and local talent.
The event features over 50 independent stalls showcasing arts, crafts, handmade goods, and produce from local makers.
The market launched in March and is scheduled to take place on the first Saturday of every month throughout the year.
The event, hosted by the award-winning Independent Street, also features live music throughout the day to create a buzzing atmosphere for all ages.
Lisa Cowley added her thanks to the local authorities for their role in the event’s success:
“A huge thank you to Jordan and Sefton Council for their continued support, it’s set to be an incredible weekend for Southport.”
Independent Street continues to provide a platform for small businesses and local artisans.
Those interested in showcasing their work, as well as local musicians, buskers, or community groups, are encouraged to get in touch via email at lisa@independentstreet.co.uk to participate in future events.
