Smithdown Weekender is back in Liverpool for another unforgettable couple of days.
Running on the 10th and 11th October with a special closing party at Handyman Bar on the Sunday. This event remains completely free, giving local up-and-coming acts a great opportunity to perform to full crowds alongside some great local established acts; 21 acts in two days!
A range of styles and acts will perform in venues along the famous road. The main stage for bands is the Handyman Bar and Brewery. Sound Together Choir will be making their debut, opening the Saturday, and Psycho Comedy will make their long-awaited comeback to close the evening before Edgar Jones gets on the decks.
Before that, festival favourites Silent-K bring the psych fun to Friday night alongside others, including Boom Boom Womb! And Silvermoon. For the closing party, you’ll need your dancing shoes on as The Jesse Janes and Splintered Ukes provide some ukulele, blues and country fun.
Moving down the road, Black Cat is back with two great days of indie, jazz and rock’n’roll. Manchester-based funky headliners Ask My Bull and New Orleans-inspired Sticky Lips both blew crowds away when they took to the stage during May’s event, while festival newcomers Llama Llama are ready to blow some minds with their Psychedelic dance punk moves.
Also performing with her full band is the Chippy Queen herself, PasleighB, famous for live streams from Mei Sum, she’ll be packing out her local!
Elsewhere, you have more DJs and acoustic sessions in venues such as The Beeswing, Luminous and Penny Lane Wine Bar. Big Lola’s and All Day Poke will be putting on special menus for the weekend, with more acts to be announced in the coming days as well.
Although free in each venue will be taking donations for The Whitechapel Centre, a charity which the event has supported since day one.
