Sir Paul McCartney has returned to Liverpool for a special visit to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), where he shared his experience and advice with the next generation of creatives.

The Beatles legend was at the performing arts institute on Monday afternoon for a graduate masterclass session with students ahead of this year’s graduation celebrations.

McCartney, who is LIPA’s founding patron, has maintained a close connection with the Liverpool institution since it opened in 1996, helping support young performers, musicians and creatives as they begin their careers.

The visit comes ahead of the university’s graduation ceremony, where McCartney is expected to present diplomas to students at the M&S Bank Arena.

LIPA’s annual graduation ceremonies have previously seen McCartney honour leading figures from the creative industries alongside celebrating the achievements of graduates.

Beatles Legend Shares Advice With Next Generation Of Creatives

During his time at LIPA, McCartney spoke with students about their creative journeys, offering insight from a career that has spanned more than six decades.

The visit highlights the continued relationship between one of Liverpool’s most famous sons and the institution he helped establish as a world-leading centre for performing arts education.

LIPA trains students across a range of creative disciplines, including music, acting, dance, filmmaking, sound technology and production, with students regularly involved in performances, gigs and creative projects throughout the year.

For many students, meeting McCartney represents a unique opportunity to hear directly from one of the most successful musicians in history.

Liverpool Welcomes Back One Of Its Most Famous Sons

McCartney’s latest visit once again highlights his enduring relationship with Liverpool, from his early days growing up in the city to his continued support of its creative community.

Through his work with LIPA, he has helped create opportunities for aspiring performers and artists, ensuring future generations have access to high-quality creative education.

As graduates prepare to receive their diplomas, McCartney’s return provides another memorable chapter in the long-running connection between the Beatles icon and the city that inspired some of the world’s most famous music.
