The second part of the annual Sefton Pride celebration is taking place in Southport this weekend.
On 28th June 2026, there will be another event in Southport town centre, organised by Sefton Pride CIC, along with a couple of accompanying Pride events at nearby venues, including Parkinson’s Books and Southport Bijou Cinema.
People keen to join the Sefton Pride march are asked to meet at the Victoria Park entrance opposite the Morrisons supermarket in Southport at midday.
At 12.45 pm, Sefton Pride will see the march heading along Duke Street to Southport Market on King Street, Southport, PR8 1LA.
At Southport, between 1 pm and 7 pm, there will be music, dance, and artisan stalls with a Southport Pride Market organised by Merseyside Queer Markets.
The Sefton Pride event takes place on the same day as the Southport Armed Forces Day, which will include events at The Atkinson and in King’s Gardens.
Sefton Pride CIC founder and event organiser Jen Corcoran said:
“If you’d like to join us for the march, then please come along to the entrance of Victoria Park opposite Morrisons.
“We will parade down Duke Street and head for Southport Market where there will be entertainment, stalls, and markets, thanks to Merseyside Queer Markets.
“We have got a stunning line up and can’t wait to share the day with you.
“The incredible Moonlight Events are our tech-sperts, and Merseyside Queer Markets are curating super stalls that will be in the indoor event space.
“The indoor market itself will be open for food until 6pm and drinks until 7pm. Grab your mates and your glad rags and come join us!”
Classic House Music Night Raises Funds for Sefton Pride

In the lead-up to the main march, local independent venues are hosting specialised entertainment to help fundraise for the community organisation.
The Audio Book Pride Origins event takes place on Saturday 27th June 2026, running from 3 pm to 11:45 pm, with last entry at 8 pm.
Based at Parkinsons Books on Lord Street in Southport, the evening marks the second year that the shop has linked up with Sefton Pride to present an evening of classic house music.
The gathering aims to celebrate the sound and energy that gave birth to the LGBTQ+ scene and offered safety and security to those discovering their identity.
The line-up is filled with local talent, giving up their fee and time to help raise money for Sefton Pride.
DJs performing on the night include Paul Elder, Miech Martin, Paulie, Seani Mac, and Andy Parkinson.
All money received after expenses will be donated directly to Sefton Pride CIC.
Attendees can book tickets here.
Southport Bijou Cinema Schedules Pride Season Screenings
The local cultural offer expands further into independent cinema, with a curated selection of classic films and documentaries highlighting LGBTQ+ history and global subcultures.
The Southport Bijou Cinema, located on Post Office Avenue in Southport town centre, is screening movies to celebrate Pride Season.
The schedule includes the 1996 comedy The Birdcage (15) on Thursday, 25th June 2026 at 7:30 pm, which follows gay lovers Armand and Albert as they disguise themselves as a heterosexual couple in order to meet and impress the conservative family of their son’s fiancée.
On Saturday 27th June 2026 at 2:30 pm, the cinema will show Funeral Parade Of Roses (15, 1969), a subtitled feature set in the underground gay culture of 1960s Tokyo that presents a loose adaptation of Oedipus Rex.
This will be followed at 5 pm by the acclaimed 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning (15).
The film focuses on drag queens living in New York City and their house culture, which provides a sense of community and support for the flamboyant and often socially shunned performers as they compete in elaborate balls.
Closing out the Saturday schedule at 7:30 pm is Queen – Live At Wembley (12A, 1986), capturing one of the world’s biggest bands as they return to the scene of their Live Aid triumph to play their greatest hits in front of a packed stadium.
