This weekend marks the soft opening of Salt and Tar’s first Winter Street Food Market.
The free event will be open from 4pm-9pm on Friday, December 8th, 12pm-9pm on Saturday, December 9th, and 12pm-6pm on Sunday, December 10th.
Food and beverages from around the world will be available from local vendors. Visitors can sample a traditional hog roast, gourmet burgers, and a salt and pepper shack, as well as Thai, Japanese, and American BBQ stalls. Lock & Quay, a nearby business, will provide festive favourites like mulled wine, cask ales, and specialty hot cocktails.
There will also be some last-minute shopping, with craft and gift stalls from local artisans. To top it all off, Salt and Tar has an extensive entertainment schedule for each day, which is detailed below.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said:
“Over the past year, we’ve had some fantastic events at Salt and Tar, which has showcased its potential as a popular new outdoor venue.
“I can’t wait to welcome everyone back to see our Winter Street Food Market.
“There will be plenty on offer for the whole family to get you into the Christmas spirit, from delicious food and drinks, to live entertainment. It’s going to be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the year and enjoy the festive atmosphere at Salt and Tar.”
The Winter Street Food Market is just one of Salt and Tar’s calendar highlights in 2024, with the venue offering a full events schedule. A comedy event, an international festival, and pop legend Tom Jones’ appearance for two nights of the Music Weekender next August are among the highlights.
