Salt and Tar’s Winter Street Food Market full details announced

Food and beverages from around the world will be available from local vendors. Visitors can sample a traditional hog roast, gourmet burgers, and a salt and pepper shack, as well as Thai, Japanese, and American BBQ stalls. Lock & Quay, a nearby business, will provide festive favourites like mulled wine, cask ales, and specialty hot cocktails.

There will also be some last-minute shopping, with craft and gift stalls from local artisans. To top it all off, Salt and Tar has an extensive entertainment schedule for each day, which is detailed below.

Friday 8th December

From 4pm – Salt and Tar’s resident DJ will be playing funk, soul and disco classics while visitors eat, relax and start their weekend off right.

Saturday 9th December

12pm – 3pm – a drop-in kids craft workshop will be available to join for free.

12.30 – live music will be provided by acoustic duo Meg and Ben, followed by a set from Funky Jesus and Craig the Baptist.

5pm – the resident DJ returns with their funk, soul and disco offering.

Sunday 10th December

12.30 – Scrapyard Studio Rock Choir and L20 Resonate Youth Choir will join together to host a live performance, promising to be a ‘choir with a difference’.

1pm-5pm – kids are welcome to join a drop-in craft workshop.

1.30pm and 3pm – a special story telling by Jude Lennon is available for the younger visitors. This is a drop-in event with no need to join for the whole time.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said:

“Over the past year, we’ve had some fantastic events at Salt and Tar, which has showcased its potential as a popular new outdoor venue.

“I can’t wait to welcome everyone back to see our Winter Street Food Market.

“There will be plenty on offer for the whole family to get you into the Christmas spirit, from delicious food and drinks, to live entertainment. It’s going to be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the year and enjoy the festive atmosphere at Salt and Tar.”

The Winter Street Food Market is just one of Salt and Tar’s calendar highlights in 2024, with the venue offering a full events schedule. A comedy event, an international festival, and pop legend Tom Jones’ appearance for two nights of the Music Weekender next August are among the highlights.

Dogs are welcome at this weekend’s event.
