Royal Liver Building becomes food drop-off point in support of Fans Supporting Foodbanks

Royal Liver Building becomes food drop-off point as RLB360 pledges extra support to Fans Supporting Foodbanks.

Liverpool’s stunning Royal Liver Building is set to become a food drop-off point in support of Merseyside’s pioneering Fans Supporting Foodbanks (FSF).

Organisers at the RLB360 attraction pledged to help the groundbreaking FSF initiative in their powerful fight against hunger by offering to become a food drop-off point while also donating every booking fee from ticket sales over the next three weeks – including the busy October half-term.

FSF has been supporting the needy and vulnerable by collecting food outside Goodison Park and Anfield at matches since 2016 and has been influential in setting up similar schemes at other clubs across the country.

RLB360, meanwhile, is situated in the world-famous Royal Liver Building and it is hoped the many visitors will now bring along food to drop-off before being guided round the attraction.

Chris Devaney, who is the manager of RLB360, said:

“We’re really proud to be helping Fans Supporting Foodbanks, it is a cause our staff feel very passionately about.

“Heritage Great Britain, who own the RLB360 attraction, have also been in contact with food wholesalers Bidfood – as they have a partnership with the building – and they are set to support our alliance with a donation of food required by FSF also.”

Fans Supporting Foodbanks organiser Dave Kelly added:

“We’re honoured that the Royal Liver Building wants to help and support our initiative.

“We took a delegation from Cork to visit the RLB360 attraction this weekend and they loved it. It seems like the start of a really great partnership and I hope people visiting will now bring food donations, to help even further.”

FSF worked throughout the coronavirus pandemic to support those in need, creating a new food supply hub in Anfield to make sure those who were struggling and shielding at home did not go hungry while also focusing on developing items of emergency Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for NHS staff and key workers.

The RLB360 visitor centre, where the food drop-off point is located, is free to enter – regardless of whether people tour the building, view the digital projection show and explore the historical architecture on offer.
