The NHS has been and continues to be a beacon for the UK during the Coronavirus pandemic and Bold Street’s speciality coffee shop and wine bar – Ropes & Twines – has unveiled a stunning window display in honour of the Trust.
The magnificent display is made up of chocolate block NHS letters and beautifully handcrafted chocolate flowers complete with petals, leaves, foliage and a butterfly with the entire creation completely edible.
Taking three weeks to hand-make by Ropes & Twines’ in-house chocolatier Remy and the team, the speciality coffee shop which is open for takeaway and collection during the third national lockdown, the window display will bring a touch of colour, positivity and light during what has been a tough start to 2021 and a very wet and windy month so far.
And whilst the display is up, the coffee shop is also offering 10% off for all NHS workers on takeaway, coffee and wine (valid with an NHS card).
Ropes & Twines’ chocolatier Remy Kuijken said:
“We wanted to create a display that anyone walking by on Bold Street or is popping in for takeaway items can enjoy. The NHS workers have been the backbone of the UK throughout the pandemic and as we’re back in another national lockdown it felt fitting to create something to show our appreciation to all at the Trust.
“At Christmastime we created Liverpool’s wonderful Bold Street entirely out of gingerbread and we knew that when we dismantled it, something amazing had to supersede it. I got to work on handcrafting the NHS block letters which took three weeks to make, build and create and then sprayed them with multicoloured cocoa butter to ensure the entire creation was completely edible.
“Myself and the team at Ropes & Twines hope that it brings some joy during this difficult time and helps to lift people’s spirits.”
Ropes & Twines is open 11am-5pm Thursday – Monday during lockdown.
