Premier League: Everton vs Wolves; Fans are back but Europe might be long gone!

After another shambolic display at home Everton have been left in the dust in the race for European football.

They badly needed a victory to stay in the hunt even for the Europa conference league and now that looks very unlikely.

Outperformed, outran and outdone by the bottom of the league.

It was shocking, there is no other way of putting it.

Carlo Ancelotti said after the match it was a little bit embarrassing, it wasn’t a little bit embarrassing it was totally embarrassing.

So of course yet again Everton need to react after another poor showing but this time it’ll be different as the Goodison faithful will be back to give them a kick up the backside.

A Wolves team that have nothing much to play for other than pride is the opposition so it’ll be a good game for the players to bounce back.

Everton are currently sat in a low ninth place so it is looking very bleak for the Blues.

Ancelotti was explaining why he had not got Everton back firing in his pre-match press conference.

The Italian said: “I am not a magician. I am only a trainer.

“It is difficult to explain this double face of the team. it is true that we didn’t play so well in this period and of course we have to improve the quality.

“But you can play football in different ways. You can get results not only with quality. It is true I have won a lot of trophies but I don’t know how many with quality. It is also about spirit, and sacrifice, and focus.”

Maybe the fans can bring that spirit. Maybe the fans can make sure the players have that sacrifice and also have that focus.

It’s becoming a sour end to what should have been a fantastic season.

Hopefully the fans can have a bit of entertainment before the end, all eyes will be on the transfer window now.
