American fried chicken restaurant Popeyes® opened the doors to its first North West restaurant in Liverpool on Saturday 26th November, following the success of a string of new openings across the UK including Nottingham, Gateshead and Oxford.
The store officially opened at 11am on Lord Street in Liverpool, with the launch seeing customers queue from the night before. The first three customers through the door won the ultimate prize of free Chicken Sandwiches for a year, and first fifty received a free Chicken Sandwich and official Popeyes® UK merchandise.
Ryan Thompson, Sean Thompson and Fares Jamal, were the first through the doors of the new restaurant, bagging themselves free Chicken Sandwiches for a year after queuing up from 10pm the night before – a Popeyes® record.
Ryan, Sean and Fares, the winners of free Chicken Sandwiches for a year, said:
“These are the best Chicken Sandwiches in Liverpool, very crispy and they definitely live up to the hype. It was worth the wait and we’re buzzing to get free Chicken Sandwiches for a year.”
Mardi Gras style band, the Brass Funkeys, who have performed at Glastonbury and Ronnie Scott’s, provided a New Orleans party vibe as the doors were opened, alongside an orange carpet and limited-edition merchandise.
Nicole Cockburn, Senior Training Manager at Popeyes® Liverpool, said:
“Liverpool is my hometown, so I am particularly excited to see Popeyes® launch here. We’ve seen some great excitement for the launch with fans queuing up from as early as 10pm the night before for our Chicken Sandwiches. We can’t wait to see the buzz continue to grow and for more people to try our ‘shatter crunch’ for themselves.”
Popeyes® Liverpool is now open on 59-61 Lord Street, and seats up to 116 people across the interior and exterior of the restaurant.
