Pilgrim receives Michelin Bib Gourmand Award

  • October 7, 2019

Duke Street Food and Drink Market favourite Pilgrim, has received the Michelin Bib Gourmand Award, the only restaurant on Merseyside to be awarded.

The Bib Gourmand list, spotlights restaurants across Great Britain that serve high quality meals priced below a maximum determined by local economic standards. Being recognised by Michelin Inspectors, and to be included in the list is a fantastic achievement for any venue.

Pilgrim, the restaurant that appeared on BBC2’s My Million Pound Menu and secured investment from Graffiti Spirits Group director Matt Farrell, has been awarded in Michelin’s Bib Gourmand Guide for 2020.

Pilgrim currently offers a lunchtime menu of three small plates for £15 Wednesday-Friday, and a ‘Whole Beast Roast’ every Sunday for £20 with a glass of house wine, cava or beer.

Radically seasonal, ethically sourced, regional produce with a big focus on fire-cooked smokey flavours, Pilgrim serves an ever changing á la carte menu of peak-season vegetables, was well as sustainably sourced meat & fish, all cooked over wood charcoal on a huge centrepiece live-fire hearth.

The restaurant was founded by Jamie Duffield, Dave Bone and Anthony Power. On the restaurant’s new award, Jamie said: “We’re all absolutely delighted to have been recognised in Michelin’s Bib Gourmand Awards and to be part of the 2020 guide and have our hard work recognised is just amazing.

“We’re all so passionate about the quality of our ingredients and ensure we handle each and every one of them with care so that our dishes deliver on flavour.

“We’ve introduced an affordable lunchtime menu along with our whole beast Sunday roasts, and there is of course our A La Carte and tasting menus, ensuring we have something for everyone.”

Pilgrim’s next tasting menu is on Wednesday 9 October to mark Dia De Espana, Spain’s national holiday.
