On the release of her new single "Roots" Matt Jacobson interviews singer, Alissia Laureen

Singer/songwriter Laureen loves to share her music and conscience to the World. At an early age Alissia started to play with notes utilizing the guitar and her voice. And today Alissia has a new single.

“I have time to absorb the beauty of life“

The Young Alissia, what music did you grow up with?

I can remember listening to a lot of Lenny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Die Fantastischen Vier (German Hip/Hop), Miley Cyrus, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Drake Bell, the music from TV-Series and movies like “Glee” and “High School Musical” the first and second part.

When did you start playing instruments?

Guitar at 7, sax at 10 in the school band.

When did you buy your first instrument?

Well, I got my first guitar at 4. The lessons came later.

What/who are your influences?

Lauv, Charlie Puth, Yungblud, Machine Gun Kelly, Clare Bowen, James Gillespie and Joe Traxler.

On the release of her new single "Roots" Matt Jacobson interviews singer, Alissia Laureen

How would you describe your music?

Alternative Pop.

Do you always think about song writing, or do you have to find time to create music?

It comes when it comes. I do not force it. But I normally set aside time to write my music.

How do you write songs, do you write the music first or the lyrics? Or record both together?

I usually write the lyrics first. But I wrote “Lost” on the toilet, I was working as a waitress. I recorded the lyrics and melody for the chorus on my phone. I finalized the rest of the song back home.

Do you perform in your hometown?

During the first Covid-19 lock down in Austria, I played my first performance outside of my family’s house for the neighbours in my village outside of Vienna. My second concert was opening up for Virginia Ernst at an open-air event at my workplace. I performed in my uniform/Dirndl on the foothills of the Alps.

What next for Alissia Laureen?

Single Release on the 4th of December with “Roots”. There will be a video on YouTube and the Mp3 is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc. My latest song is about family, alive or past, and all of the connections we have.

Thanks to Alissia.
