New restrictions – What it means for business and day to day life

Tuesday 22nd September will see a number of new restrictions that will come into place across the Liverpool City Region.

Areas include Liverpool, Wirral, Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Sefton, the new restrictions include:

Restrictions for Businesses

  • Hospitality for food and drink will be restricted to table service only
  • Late night operating hours will be restricted, with hospitality, leisure and entertainment venues including restaurants, pubs, and cinemas required to close between 10.00pm-5.00am
  • Businesses and venues can still sell food and drinks for consumption off the premises between the hours of 22.00 to 05.00 but only for delivery service
  • The following businesses and venues must remain closed: nightclubs, dance halls and discotheques

Restrictions for Residents

  • Residents must not socialise with other people outside of their own households or support bubble in private homes and gardens
  • Do not host people you do not live with in your home or garden, unless they’re in your support bubble

Guidance for Residents

  • You can still go on holiday outside of the affected areas, but you should only do this with people you live with (or have formed a support bubble with)
  • You are still able to travel outside your area
  • You should only use public transport for essential reasons, such as travelling to work or school
  • You should try not to share a car with those outside your household or support bubble
  • You are advised not to attend amateur or professional sporting events as a spectator
  • You can continue to take part in organised sporting or licensed physical activity in groups of more than 6

Remember you can still meet with friends and family at cafes, bars and restaurants following the 6-person limit on social gatherings (which came into force on Monday 14th September). Do it at Covid-safe businesses only.
