A brand new Netflix thriller from bestselling author Harlan Coben is heading to screens, and part of it has been filmed right here in the Liverpool City Region.
Production crews for upcoming Netflix drama The Woods were recently spotted filming scenes around Hamilton Square, with the historic location transformed for the new mystery series.

The upcoming eight-part thriller stars Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman and is the latest Netflix adaptation from Coben, whose previous hit series include Fool Me Once, Stay Close and The Stranger.
According to Netflix, The Woods follows prosecutor Paul ‘Cope’ Copeland, played by Bateman, whose life is turned upside down when new evidence emerges linked to the disappearance of his sister 20 years earlier. As long-buried secrets begin to surface, Cope is forced to revisit a traumatic summer camp tragedy that changed his life forever.
Michelle Keegan stars as Lucy Silverfield, Cope’s former love interest, with the pair reunited as they begin uncovering years of lies, cover-ups and hidden family secrets.
Hamilton Square in Birkenhead has become an increasingly popular filming destination in recent years thanks to its striking architecture and period-style streets. The location has previously appeared in a number of major TV dramas and films, with Liverpool City Region continuing to attract huge productions from across the world.

The Woods is currently filming across Manchester and the North West, with Netflix confirming production is now underway.
The new drama marks another collaboration between Michelle Keegan and Netflix following the huge success of Fool Me Once, which became one of the streaming platform’s most watched shows.
No official release date has yet been announced for The Woods, but the thriller is expected to land on Netflix following the completion of filming.
For fans of gripping mysteries and dark psychological thrillers, this could be another must-watch addition to Netflix’s growing collection of Harlan Coben adaptations.
