Liverpool Football Club has unveiled a new museum exhibition at Anfield celebrating the career of the club’s all-time record goalscorer, Ian Rush.
The former striker, who scored 346 goals in 660 appearances for Liverpool, worked directly with the LFC Museum and Tours team to create the new fan experience.

Titled All You Need Is Rush, after the famous terrace anthem, the exhibition follows Rush’s journey from a young footballer in North Wales to becoming one of the most celebrated No.9s in Liverpool’s history.
Visitors are welcomed by a life-size hologram of Rush, which delivers a two-minute immersive introduction directly to supporters.
The hologram switches between Rush as he is today and the player who starred at Anfield during the 1980s and 1990s, as he reflects on the defining moments of his Liverpool career and the people who helped shape his story.
The exhibition also features a collection of personal memorabilia supplied by Rush, including his European and English First Division Golden Boot awards.

All 16 match balls from his Liverpool hat-tricks are on display, alongside three match-worn shirts from the club’s FA Cup final victories in 1986, 1989 and 1992.
During his Liverpool career, Rush won five league titles, two European Cups, three FA Cups and five League Cups.
He also finished third in the club’s recent Greatest vote, behind Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard.

Speaking at a launch event at Anfield, the 64-year-old said:
“This exhibition means a great deal to me because it isn’t just about football.
“It’s about memories, it’s about the people I played with, the managers who believed in me, the supporters who stood behind me and the club that became my home.
“When I first arrived at Liverpool as a young lad from North Wales, I never dreamed of what lay ahead. I simply wanted to work hard, score goals and earn the right to wear this famous shirt.
“I’ve worked closely with the Stadium Tours and Museum team here at Anfield to make this as personal as possible and it means a great deal to be able to share it all with our wonderful supporters.
“It’s filled with all sorts, including some of the shirts I wore, the boots that carried me through the hundreds of matches and the silverware that reminds me of unforgettable times.
“There are also lots of moments that Liverpool supporters still love to remind me about to this day – the four goals at Goodison Park, the European Cup triumphs, the days out at Wembley and the goals, all of them.
“I hope everyone who visits this exhibition enjoys it and gets as much pleasure out of it, as I did helping to create it.”
Jonathan Bamber, LFC’s chief legal and external affairs officer and Forever Reds executive sponsor, added:
“Ian Rush’s legacy is woven into the history of Liverpool Football Club and we’re so proud to be able to celebrate his remarkable career through this amazing new exhibition.
“It reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to bring supporters, old and new, closer to the heritage that defines this club via the LFC Tour and Museum and to continue to support, honour and work with our iconic former players, while also raising money for local good causes through Forever Reds.”
