Liverpool is once again taking centre stage on screen as brand-new BBC drama The Cage prepares to arrive later this month, with scenes filmed across the city.
Starring Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha, the five-part thriller is set in Liverpool and promises a gripping mix of crime, drama and dark humour.

The new BBC One series begins on Sunday 26 April at 9pm, with all episodes also available on BBC iPlayer.
What is The Cage about?
Set around an inner-city casino in Liverpool, The Cage follows casino workers Leanne and Matty, played by Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha, who both secretly steal money from the workplace safe.
When they realise each other is in on the scam, their lives spiral into chaos as they attempt to stay one step ahead of police, each other, and dangerous local criminals.

Liverpool Takes the Spotlight Again
The city’s streets have become a familiar backdrop for major TV productions in recent years, and The Cage is the latest big-name drama to showcase Liverpool on screen.
Filming took place in locations across Liverpool and Merseyside earlier last year, with locals spotting cameras, crew and Sheridan Smith in several city scenes.
With Liverpool’s mix of historic streets, waterfront views and city-centre energy, it’s easy to see why producers continue to choose the city for major productions.

Strong Cast Behind the Series
Alongside Smith and Socha, the cast also includes Barry Sloane, Geraldine James and a host of familiar faces.
The series comes from writer Tony Schumacher, creator of acclaimed BBC drama The Responder, meaning viewers can expect plenty of tension, sharp dialogue and emotional twists.
When to Watch
The Cage starts Sunday 26 April at 9pm on BBC One, with the full series available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
For Liverpool TV fans, it’s another chance to spot familiar streets, landmarks and local locations on national television.
