A brand new indoor play venue will open at Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby, in September 2026.
Monkey Town, the European indoor family entertainment brand operated by Dutch leisure group 24 Indoor, has confirmed that a highly anticipated new indoor play and family entertainment venue will open at Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby, in September 2026, in a project supported by Knowsley Council.
The new 16,000sqft purpose-built venue will become the first newly developed Monkey Town location in the UK and is set to deliver one of the region’s most advanced indoor family entertainment experiences for children and families.
The development forms part of Monkey Town’s continued investment in the North West and its wider UK expansion strategy.
The business expects the development to create more than 15 new jobs locally and hopes the venue will become an important part of Kirkby’s growing community and wider regeneration plans.
Jungle Themed Adventure Zones and Laser Arena Planned for Cherryfield Drive
Designed to cater for children of all ages, the venue will feature a dedicated under-3s play zone complete with interactive ball pools, building block areas, slides and sensory play features focused on creativity and early development.
Older children will be able to explore a large jungle-themed adventure area featuring crawl tubes, climbing structures, interactive challenges, the brand’s signature Volcano slide experience and the thrilling “Walk of Faith” feature.
Additional attractions will include an interactive sports pitch, immersive gaming pixel floor with multiple game modes, and a multi-level laser arena set within dramatic UV-themed surroundings.
The venue will also include family dining facilities and a comprehensive birthday party offering, ranging from value-focused class parties through to exclusive private hire experiences.
Josh Buxton, UK Country Director, said:
“Kirkby is a hugely exciting project for us and represents a major investment in family leisure within the region.
“We want Monkey Town to become a real community destination, somewhere families can spend quality time together in a safe, immersive and affordable environment.
“We know there has been strong demand locally for a high-quality indoor play offer and we are very excited to bring the Monkey Town experience to Kirkby.”
Knowsley Council Backs Town Centre Leisure Regeneration Scheme
The introduction of the multi-national brand aligns directly with local authority efforts to diversify the local high street and establish permanent social spaces for Merseyside residents.
Monkey Town says the Kirkby development has been designed with accessibility and affordability at its core, with a commitment to offering competitively priced family entertainment for the local community.
The venue will also introduce a pay-once, stay-all-day model with no fixed time slots, giving families greater flexibility and removing the pressure often associated with timed play sessions.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Money Town to Kirkby.
“This is a prime site in the town centre and we know that residents and visitors want a diverse offer in the town, including places and activities for children and families.
“Monkey Town will provide opportunities to meet up and socialise whilst also providing family fun.
“I look forward to seeing internal works commence and Monkey Town opening their doors later this year.”
The parent company, 24 Indoor, has a chain of indoor family entertainment centres across Europe, with more than 80 locations across the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
