Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman spotted filming Netflix thriller The Woods in Liverpool

Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman have been spotted filming scenes for upcoming Netflix thriller The Woods in Liverpool city centre.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 25th August) the two actors were seen on set on Percy Street, where crews were filming a driving scene for the new Harlan Coben adaptation.

The latest filming comes as production on The Woods continues across Liverpool and the wider region, with crews previously spotted at St George’s Hall in Liverpool and Hamilton Square in Birkenhead.

The latest pictures show Keegan and Bateman together during filming on Percy Street, giving fans another glimpse behind the scenes of the highly anticipated eight-part Netflix series.

What is The Woods about?

The Woods centres on Paul “Cope” Copeland, a successful barrister and single father whose life is turned upside down by events connected to a tragedy from his past.

Twenty years earlier, his sister Camille disappeared from a summer camp, leaving his family devastated. When a body is discovered decades later and linked to the same case, Cope begins to question whether his sister could still be alive.

His search for the truth leads him back into the events surrounding her disappearance, uncovering long-hidden secrets and deception that threaten the life he has since built.

Tom Bateman takes on the role of Cope, while Michelle Keegan stars alongside him as Lucy Silverfield.

The series is based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name and is the latest adaptation to come from the bestselling author’s ongoing partnership with Netflix.

Danny Brocklehurst, who previously adapted Coben’s Fool Me Once, Stay Close and Run Away for Netflix, serves as writer and executive producer on the new series.

Additional filming at St John’s Gardens

Filming for The Woods was also taking place at St John’s Gardens on the morning of Tuesday, 25th August, with Explore Liverpool capturing further images from the production.

Among those pictured on set was Rade Šerbedžija, who plays Uncle Sosh in the upcoming Netflix thriller.

The scenes at St John’s Gardens took place on the same day as filming on Percy Street, where Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman were photographed during a driving scene, showing the production making use of several locations across Liverpool city centre throughout the day.

The Woods continues filming in Liverpool

Tuesday’s shoot is the latest production activity for The Woods to be spotted across the Liverpool City Region.

Previously filming took place around Hamilton Square in Birkenhead, before the production moved to St George’s Hall, where Tom Bateman, Mandeep Dhillon and Roger Barclay were photographed on set.

Now, filming has moved onto the streets of Liverpool city centre, with Percy Street providing the backdrop for scenes featuring two of the show’s leading stars.

Liverpool and the wider city region regularly provide locations for major film and television productions, with the area’s historic streets and architecture allowing locations to be transformed for productions from around the world.

An official release date for The Woods has yet to be announced by Netflix.
