It has been announced that Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band will headline Summer of Sound.
A summer of live music and events at the Museum of Liverpool, with an intimate one-off gig on Saturday 15 August 2026.
Summer of Sound is a six-week series of gigs, special events and talks taking place in the museum, created in partnership with Liverpool’s world-famous Cavern Club to mark National Museums Liverpool’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
Tickets go on sale to National Museums Liverpool members this Friday (5 June) so music fans can buy a membership now to get exclusive access to pre-sale tickets.
National Museums Liverpool members also get exclusive early access to exciting new exhibitions and events and 15% off in shops and cafes.
Summer of Sound is a summer-long series of gigs and special events taking place in the Museum of Liverpool, created in partnership with Liverpool’s world-famous Cavern Club.
A wave of acts is scheduled to hit the riverside venue every Saturday evening throughout the summer, celebrating the vibrancy and legacy of Liverpool’s music scene.
These musicians spanning decades, from Merseybeat to cutting-edge contemporary artists, have been chosen especially by The Cavern Club to celebrate the history of Liverpool music.
Summer of Sound Liverpool
On Friday evenings, Tom Kelly’s Musical Bingo is here to test your musical knowledge. Combining live music and dabbers, this exciting new bingo experience challenges audiences to mark off their music-themed bingo cards when they hear a song performed.
There’s also a chance for musicians to take part in our popular Museums Sessions Live, which are returning to the Museum of Liverpool as part of the Summer of Sound.
An open call to all musicians in the city, Museum Sessions Live gives artists the chance to perform in the venue’s vibrant atrium on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. Submissions are open now for artists to apply.
