Metquarter announce Spring arrival of a brand new Food Hall

Liverpool shopping centre Metquarter has today announced the arrival of a brand new food hall set to open to the public in late Spring.

Located on the Victoria Street entrance of the centre adjoining Everyman, the opening is a huge boost for the local area, creating 132 jobs in the city across the build and post opening.

Experienced food operators The Milestone Group will bring the food hall to Liverpool under its brand ‘General Post Office’ which is a nod to the former use of the building as Liverpool’s head Post Office. Set to be the largest food hall in the city centre, it will focus on a wide variety of cuisines under one roof, championing independent regional operators above all else and offering support and incubation for the best this emerging food scene has to offer.

Confirmed operators include, Bullion Craft Bean Café, Restaurant Konjo, Jail Bird Nashville Fired Chicken, Patty B’s Burgers, Thai 25, Dirty Herb Vegan Chicken and Bubble Tea.

The opening of GPO will complete the remixing of Metquarter and will complement the varied offer bringing new life and activity to the remainder of the building and surrounding area. This will bring Metquarter back to a significantly let position in a market place that has been greatly challenged. The repositioning of the building is now being seen as a shining example of how to repurpose retail property.

Alex Hyams, Asset Manager for Queensberry said: ‘This is tremendous news, we’re delighted to be bringing Milestone Group as experienced food hall operators to Liverpool. GPO will be the largest food hall in the city centre and adds to the dynamic blend of uses which make up our unique offering at Metquarter.”

Matt Bigland, Founder and Director at The Milestone Group said: “GPO will be a hub for Liverpool’s emerging food hall scene. With a mix of design and culinary excellence, GPO will showcase the best in up-and-coming food and drink talent in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. Independent and totally unique food vendors make up the mix, hand chosen and incubated to showcase the best in the world food in one iconic venue.”

Looking for talent that aligns with the GPO’s core values is no easy task. We are constantly on the lookout for the next food stars. We help form impressive brands while supporting them in our food hall. If you think your brand is a good fit for GPO or have talent for the next big hit let us know! We want to work with you.”

Jennina O’Neill, Metquarter Centre Manager said: “We’re delighted to welcome the GPO food hall to Metquarter, further expanding the centre’s offering. As well as creating 132 jobs in the city, GPO will be a hub for Liverpool’s emerging food hall scene showcasing the best independent operators in the city. The revolutionary and innovative food ordering app iBe will be at the helm of the customer journey and will provide an unprecedented user experience for all visitors. We’re excited to see the plans come to life over the coming weeks and look forward to welcoming visitors this spring.”
