New Irish Pub McSwiggin’s Opens in Liverpool City Centre Historic Building

A brand-new Irish pub has opened its doors in Liverpool city centre, bringing a taste of traditional Irish hospitality to one of the city’s most historic buildings.

McSwiggin’s – House of Stout has officially opened on Fenwick Street, transforming the Grade II listed Castle Moat House into a new two-storey pub focused on quality drinks, live entertainment and a modern take on Irish pub culture.

The venue is located at 25 Fenwick Street, in the heart of Liverpool’s business district, and has breathed new life into a building that had previously stood empty.

The former commercial bank, which dates back to 1841, has been carefully restored while retaining many of its original features.

McSwiggin’s places a major focus on the perfect Guinness pour, alongside a carefully selected Irish whiskey collection, live music and live sport.

The pub has been designed to create a warm and traditional atmosphere, featuring heritage details, cosy seating areas, booths, fireplaces, TV screens and two bars spread across the building’s two floors.

Visitors can expect a premium Irish pub experience rather than a traditional themed venue, with the team aiming to combine classic pub culture with a more refined approach.

Alongside Guinness and a range of Irish whiskeys, McSwiggin’s will offer an extended selection of stouts, as well as food and drink options designed for everything from casual visits to match-day gatherings.

Live music and live sport on offer

The venue will also host regular live music sessions, while its large screens will make it a destination for watching major sporting events, including football, rugby and other fixtures.

With Liverpool’s long-standing links to Irish culture and its reputation for a thriving pub scene, McSwiggin’s is hoping to become a new favourite spot for locals and visitors looking for a quality pint, live entertainment and a welcoming atmosphere.

McSwiggin’s is now open at 25 Fenwick Street, Liverpool.
