Fans of progressive rock in Southport and across the Sefton coast are invited to experience a night of classic Genesis as Mama, one of the UK’s most successful tribute acts, prepares for a high-octane performance on Saturday 13 June 2026.
Taking to the stage at The Atkinson, the band is renowned for faithfully reproducing the sights and sounds of a contemporary Genesis concert, delivered with the technical precision and musicianship of a seasoned touring outfit.
The upcoming show will take the Southport audience on a comprehensive journey through the band’s storied history.
This spans from the early Peter Gabriel years and the chart-dominating Phil Collins era of the 1970s and 80s, through to the final studio recordings of the 1990s.
As a special highlight for this year, the band will be performing every song from the seminal 1976 album A Trick of the Tail in its entirety.
Technical Mastery and Classic Hits
The performance is set to feature a massive setlist of staples, including “In The Cage”, “Mama”, “Los Endos”, and “Home By The Sea”.
Fans can also expect to hear “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” and “Ripples”, alongside global hits such as “Follow You Follow Me”, “Invisible Touch”, and “Land of Confusion”.
The group is fronted by lead singer John Wilkinson, who delivers the vocal nuances of Phil Collins with impressive power and accuracy.
He is supported by keyboardist Andy Keegan, guitarist Simon D’Vali, drummer James Cooper, and bassist Dave Jones, who also handles the 12-string guitar and bass pedals to capture the authentic Genesis wall of sound.
Frontman John Wilkinson said:
“The idea of a Mama show is to celebrate the music of Genesis by having a Genesis party.
“We are huge Genesis fans, just like our audience.
“It’s great to meet so many likeminded Genesis fans as we tour the UK year after year.
“They know what they like!”
