Liverpool’s smallest cinema makes a blockbusting return this October at Bold Street favourite Cafe Tabac.
Film lovers will be in their element this month as Café Tabac relaunches its much-loved Cinema night.
Arguably an institution in the cultural fabric of the city – Café Tabac has served its loyal guests for more than 40-years.
‘The little café at the top of the hill’ which opened in 1974 has taken on almost legendary status, with many of Liverpool’s best-known sons and daughters passing through its doors, before they starred on the big screen.
A casualty like many events to lockdown and government restrictions, Screen Tabac aired its last movie in 2020, however now the night is back and with some absolute box-office behemoths.
Kicking off for Autumn on Tuesday October 4th with Withnail and I, the first season showcases cult classics including Trainspotting, The Big Lebowski and The Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind.
November’s line up features The Usual Suspects and French noir drama La Haine.
Tucked away in Tabac’s ‘back room’ the screen nights will be a seriously boutique affair with seating limited to only 20 guests to retain that intimate feel.

A date for your diaries is Scream Fest at Screen Tabac which runs up to Halloween with The Shining on Monday 24th October, The Thing on Tuesday 25th, an Evil Dead 2 & 3 double bill on Wednesday 26th and culminating with The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween night where fancy dress is encouraged and heckle sheets provided!
As you’d expect with Café Tabac the guys will be serving all of their award-winning cocktails as well as big gulp specials and munchable sweet ’n salty popcorn.
Despite its diminutive size, Screen Tabac is big on the cinema experience and will also have a special Hot Dog Menu with a variety of meaty and veggie dogs, toppings and loaded fries.
Entry to all Screen Tabac nights is free, with doors from 7.00pm (early arrival is recommended to get a great spec) with movies starting at 7.15pm or 7.30pm dependent on their length, and includes an interval.
