Liverpool’s Metquarter will support small businesses and local makers this Christmas, welcoming a takeover by Good Market.
For two evenings in December, shoppers will be able to browse market stalls from nearly 50 quality, local, indie and purpose-driven sellers.
Between 3pm and 8pm on 9th and 16th December, Good Market Liverpool will take over GPO food hall and the upper level of Metquarter. With traders ranging from handcrafted cards and homewares to locally made food and alcohol, retro football kits and everything in between, the evenings will help Christmas shoppers to sustainably tick off items from their lists while supporting local business.
Confirmed retailers so far include Hedonist, a self-care brand born out of the pursuit of pleasure and featured in Vogue; Murphy’s Gin, a Liverpool-made premium gin brand that uses traditional distillation methods to achieve a superior drink; Legs Wine, and organic, biodynamic, natural, female led wine shop; Soccer Locker with its retro football nostalgia; and Liverpool jeweller and illustrator Mushy Pea Design.
Metquarter’s mix of local label, creative arts and high fashion retailers will remain open throughout the event, turning the centre into a true one-stop-shop for every kind of Christmas shopping. The GPO will be serving up a range of food and drink options while Everyman’s schedule includes a selection of unmissable Christmas films in its irresistibly warm and friendly atmosphere.
A gift-wrapping station will also be available on the evenings, helping shoppers to put the finishing touches to their purchases. Gift wrapping will be free of charge, with a suggestion to make a donation to charity partner The Trussell Trust.
Jennina O’Neill, Metquarter Centre Manager said: “The Good Market and Metquarter are a perfect match, both champions of independent business, quality products, and creativity. This will be an unmissable Christmas shopping event for the city and wider region. If you’re looking to spend your Christmas budget with the people who care most, have been among the most challenged by the pandemic, and operate in the most eco-friendly way possible, you need to be here on 9th and 16th December.
“We’re making shopping small as easy and as fun as possible. Between the stall holders and our usual retail mix there will be so much choice all under one roof, not to mention GPO – the biggest food hall in the city – and top tier festive entertainment at Everyman Cinema.”
