This summer Liverpool is set to welcome a brand-new music experience to the city, which will showcase some of Liverpool’s top upcoming acts.
Outside In Festival will take place on Saturday 13th August at Brick Street’s popular venue CheckPoint Charlie located in the Baltic area of the city.
Teaming up with Mode training the event will be taking a different angle from the usual dance/DJ festival vibe, aiming to provide a platform for some of the city’s students as well as showcasing some of the best unsigned singers.
The festival has been created by Hayley Smitton, former WBA interim lightweight title holder boxer Derry Mathews and Stephen Edgerton, who make up the DFC Events management team. The event follows on from the success of two previous white-collar boxing shows organised by the team which took place in Liverpool in 2021 and 2022.
The Outside In Festival is the brainchild of Hayley who was previously the General Manager of the highly successful Green Room for ten years. In that time Hayley along with the owners at the time (Wallace Brothers) produced highly successful shows in the Liverpool Empire and Blackpool Grand theatre. Hayley has used her knowledge of the acts as well as contacts in the industry to put such an exciting line-up together.
Director, Hayley Smitton said:
“After weeks searching and visiting many of Liverpool’s venues, we feel we have found the perfect one in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle area, in Checkpoint Charlie on Brick Street. This has an indoor and outdoor area and we feel the venue has the perfect vibe for what we are trying to create.
We have put together a line-up of some of the best unsigned singers Liverpool has to offer including Shea O’Dubhlainn, Shaun Walsh, Andy Hodgson, Becky Hulley, Anthony Brady and Ellie & Mason plus many more.”
The event aims to cater for all music lovers across the different genres, providing a unique festival feel as well as providing a platform for some of the city’s amazing youngsters.”
Derry Mathews added:
“Hayley, Stephen and I believe that Liverpool is a hub of talent that needs to be taped into. We believe Liverpool is a magical city full of characters and talent not just in music. Our festival is aimed at all ages.”
The festival will have an outdoor and indoor stage, alongside other activities on the day.
Director Stephen Edgerton said::
“I’m particularly excited about the NXGN stage, we are always hearing negative news around the younger generation in Liverpool. We feel the NXGN stage will showcase some of the City’s amazing talented singers. I have been blown away by the standard. My aim is for them to gain the experience of performing in front of a live audience and hopefully perform on the main stage next year”.
