As plans for Liverpool’s “Celebrating” city events, which will return for the first time since the pandemic, are revealed, Bold Street and Castle Street will come alive with cocktail demos, marching bands, street performers, and the chance to find the best Scouse busker.
The free events, which Liverpool BID Company is organising, offer a chance to appreciate and celebrate the distinctive character of the streets and their local and independent businesses.
Celebrating Castle Street will take place on Sunday, August 6, there will be an incredible range of activities, including chef and cocktail creation demos from The Alchemist, Gaucho, Bacaro, Bouchon, Piccolino, and Riva Blu.
The street will come alive with colour and performance as street performers entertain the crowds. At Bouchon, giant puppet waiters, glitter artists, and the tub-thumping sounds of Batala Mersey will be mixed with the softer tones of live jazz. At Liverpool Town Hall, free yoga classes and a ukulele workshop will add to the fun.
Celebrating Bold Street will take place on Sunday, August 13, and will feature a variety of music, performances, and special offers throughout the day. There will be a marching band from Albert Schloss, DJs in stores such as COW and Resurrection, outdoor market stalls from the best stores on the street, and indoor craft stalls at Leaf with 20+ local makers selling handmade gifts, prints, jewellery, art, ceramics, and so on.
Live music will be provided by local musician Mike Blue, as well as henna artists, free taster samples of locally made limoncello, live product demonstrations, and mini workshops. On the street, there will be giant giraffes and lions, children’s craft sessions to make sock puppets, and face painters with fun for the whole family. There will also be special offers from local businesses throughout the day.
In addition, the Scouse Busker Competition will be held on each day, with the winning busker receiving a free recording session and the opportunity to perform at the Cavern!
Each day event will take place from 11 am until 6 pm.
