At an airport recruitment day on Thursday, January 11, businesses located at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) will once again be seeking to fill a variety of positions ahead of what is anticipated to be the airport’s busiest Summer season in five years, which begins in less than three months.

The airport is preparing for its busiest summer since the COVID pandemic with the arrival of Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays in late March 2024. With their flights operating to 20 sunny destinations and an expected additional 500,000 passengers through the airport, these airlines will bring significant traffic to the airport.

In order to help the airport maintain the excellent passenger experience it has become known for in recent years, which has helped it become the UK’s Best Airport in the 2023 Which? Airport Survey, the event aims to once again ensure that staffing levels across the business are in place in time for the busy summer season.

Hundreds of job seekers are anticipated to attend the annual recruitment day, which is now organised by the airport on behalf of multiple employers who are all looking to hire in 2024.

This year’s recruitment event is being held in the terminal building on Thursday, January 11 from 10am to 4pm A number of airport-based employers will be present, all of who are seeking to fill 192 positions, the most of which are full-time.

These include Jet2.com, the airline, Wilson James, the aviation security company, SSP, the catering company, ABM, the passenger assistance company, Boots, and Dufry, the duty-free shop operator.

There is no need to make an appointment in advance; anyone interested in a career at the Airport is welcome to attend the event, learn about the open positions, and speak with representatives from each of the hiring companies.

At the moment, the airport offers a wide variety of job opportunities, such as positions in aviation security, airline sales desk, aircraft dispatch, passenger assistance for people with disabilities, catering and related front-of-house roles, bar work and retail.

Carol Dutton, Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s HR & Community Director commented:

“With a busy summer season ahead and employers here at the airport wanting to ensure our passengers continue to have the best possible airport experience, it’s important to once again make sure that the many vacancies on offer here at the airport are filled in time for the Summer.

We’ll therefore be delighted to welcome along prospective employees who may be considering a career at the airport, to our latest Recruitment Day next Thursday where they will be able to find out about a host of positions currently available across a diverse range of employers, with many hopefully going on to start work here in the coming weeks.”

Many bus services stop at the airport for attendees who want to travel by public transport, and the nearby Liverpool South Parkway connects those coming from outside the area to the local rail system. In addition, free parking will be offered to individuals arriving by vehicle.

The airport website has a special Recruitment Day page for anyone interested in attending here.
