A Liverpool food and drink tour has been named among Tripadvisor’s best experiences after receiving a prestigious Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best award for 2026.
Walking Food Tours UK’s Taste of Liverpool Food & Drink Tour has received the accolade, which recognises some of the highest-rated experiences on Tripadvisor based on reviews and ratings from travellers.
The tour takes guests around Liverpool city centre, stopping at independent food and drink businesses while exploring the city’s history, culture and characters along the way.
Walking Food Tours UK founder Gareth Boyd said the award was particularly meaningful because it reflected feedback from guests.
“Awards are always fantastic, but this one means a huge amount because it is ultimately about what our guests think.”
“We’ve always believed that a great food tour is about much more than eating and drinking. It’s about the people you meet, the stories you hear, the venues you discover and seeing a city you may think you know from a completely different perspective.”
The Taste of Liverpool tour has been designed to showcase the city’s independent food scene, with visitors tasting food and drink at a selection of venues while learning more about the people and stories behind them.
The latest recognition follows another major success for the experience earlier this year, when Taste of Liverpool was named Experience of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.
Walking Food Tours UK began in Chester eight years ago before expanding into Liverpool and other destinations across the North West and beyond.
Gareth said attention to the overall guest experience remained central to the company’s approach.
“We want our guests to leave full — obviously — but also having had a great time and feeling that they’ve discovered something new.
“Our guides are a massive part of that. They aren’t simply there to walk people between venues and explain what’s on the plate. They’re there to create a connection with the group, listen to people, have a laugh with them and make the experience personal.”
The company also welcomes groups celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and hen parties, as well as corporate groups and friends looking for a different way to explore the city.
Gareth said Liverpool’s independent restaurants, bars, and food businesses played an important role in the tours’ success.

Walking Food Tours UK works with independent venues to create experiences combining local food and drink with the stories and personalities behind each business.
The company now operates tours in Liverpool, Chester, Manchester, Wrexham and Shrewsbury, as well as creating bespoke experiences for corporate groups, private parties and celebrations.
Gareth said the Tripadvisor award represented another milestone as the company looks to expand further.
