The Award Winning Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels (FoWT), offer pre-booked tours of two fascinating sections of the Williamson’s Tunnels in Edge Hill, Liverpool…
The Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels are a registered Charity and the custodians of two amazing tunnels sections, Paddington, and Williamson’s House Site. We have have been working to discover the history and story of the Joseph Williamson and his Tunnels, whilst also re-discovering and preserving as many of Williamson’s Underground World as we can.
Paddington is all about scale and depth… featuring multiple impressive brick-arched chambers. Its largest and deepest section is the spectacular Level 4 Cathedral Chamber, named for its massive scale, extending 60ft below street level. Extended tours of Joseph’s House on Mason Street are exclusive to FoWT members. Visitors descend through the kitchen area to explore a subterranean world featuring the Boiler Room, Wine Bins, Sandstone Arch, Gash, and the famous grand Banqueting Hall. Memberships for extended tours can be purchased online or on the day of your visit. Tours run every Wednesday and Sunday. Book directly via our website or by email, where you will also see how to find us directions. While tours of Paddington are free, donations are gratefully received, and help our volunteers preserve these historic structures for future generations.
