Profile
Comprising a shop, artist studios, café, and versatile event space in Liverpool city centre, MerseyMade offers culture, creativity and taste of Liverpool history in a welcoming and inclusive hub.
Just a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool ONE, the Albert Dock and the Baltic Triangle, MerseyMade offers a unique space against the backdrop of their historic Grade II Listed Building that links to the rich maritime history of Liverpool. Once home to the Gordon Smith Seamen’s Institute, MerseyMade pays tribute to this with their Gordon Smith Café offering traditional Liverpool dishes, using locally sourced ingredients where possible and most recently, implementing a history wall which tells the story of the both the building itself and the people who passed through over the years.
MerseyMade’s fundamental mission is to empower local artists and makers from within fifty miles of their postcode. Currently showcasing over one-hundred makers’ work within the shop and offering everything from Liverpool related souvenirs and keepsakes to abstract paintings, illustrations, ceramics and even locally made honey; there’s something to suit everyone’s taste.
The working artist studios are the heartbeat of MerseyMade. With ten diverse creatives working from their studios daily, there is a unique buzz and energy that inspires everyone who visits. From painters to illustrators, sewing specialists, up-cyclers and even a nail artist!
Aside from supporting artists, MerseyMade also sees the importance of encouraging creativity. Offering painting courses, creative writing sessions, candle-making workshops, comedy nights and evening wine-tastings; there are so many opportunities to make memorable and enjoyable experiences for every special occasion!
