A Cheshire-born stairlift company has been dubbed ‘the company that cares how you get upstairs’ following years of supporting the people of Merseyside and beyond to stay independent in their homes, helping over 4,300 people across the UK in 2024 alone.
Halton Stairlifts, the award-winning stairlifts company which is owned by husband and wife duo Neil, 43, and Kate Mckenzie, 38, and their friend and business partner Jon Williams, 41, has helped thousands of people stay in their homes with the help of their high-quality stairlifts.

In 2008, with a wealth of stairlift installation and servicing experience behind them, stairlift technicians Neil, Jon, and accounts and HR executive Kate, decided to take a change of direction in their careers when they created Halton Stairlifts from a home garage.
Sourcing reliable unwanted stairlift models and building excellent relationships with suppliers, Halton Stairlifts rapidly grew and the simple weekend or out of hours jobs turned into a seven day a week operation that then continued to see the business flourish, and the entrepreneurs quickly realised that they needed a much bigger premises that they could operate from.
The team moved into a 1000 sqft unit in an industrial estate in Widnes, before quickly taking over the warehouse next door, which combined saw Halton Stairlifts working in a 2000 sqft unit.
In 2017, the team moved into a brand new 8000 sqft warehouse facility in Speke and have continued to operate from there, servicing even more people needing help with their independence at home, until now, when Halton Stairlifts is expanding further and moving into an even larger 17,000 sqft warehouse and office facility back in Halton, Cheshire.
Renowned as one of the best independent stairlift companies in the UK, Halton Stairlifts has used Google, social media, physical advertising and word-of-mouth recommendations to support their customers and help more and more people across the nation who are mostly pensioners and veterans, becoming known for being a family-run business that genuinely cares about its customers.

Neil Mckenzie, Director of Halton Stairlifts, explained:
“What started as a small business idea has turned into a powerhouse of helping people across the UK stay independent in their homes and we couldn’t be more proud of Halton Stairlifts’ growth over the past 16 years. We can’t quite believe how far we’ve come and it’s a credit to our team and the high-quality service and product that we’ve committed to delivering consistently since 2008.
He added:
“Customer care is at the very centre of Halton Stairlifts and supporting thousands of people with their independence is what we’ve always dreamed of. ‘Helping you stay independent in your home’ became our company slogan as that is what our core focus is to our customers.
“For six years running, we’ve won the Platinum Trusted Service Award with Feefo and are so proud of the solid reputation we’ve built across the country for genuinely caring and helping people. In 2025, we’re expected to help over 6,000 people remain independent in their homes and the expansion of our new showroom will allow us to facilitate this growth.”
