Hope Street Blend brings music and culture to the heart of Liverpool

A brand-new event in Liverpool BID’s programme celebrating the culture and businesses of the city’s streets arrives this month with Hope Street Blend, coinciding with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s Open Day on Saturday 28 September.

In a special weekend for the city, Hope Street Blend will unite cultural partners along the iconic Hope Street in a symphony of music and creativity. The mini festival will see venues open their doors for pop-up events, bringing performances into unexpected spaces while shining a spotlight on a street that embodies Liverpool’s rich cultural heritage and identity.

The event follows a summer of city celebrations including Celebrating Castle Street, Bold Street, and The Last Day of Summer on the Waterfront. Hope Street Blend is delivered by Hope Street CIC and Liverpool BID.

Katie Bentley is Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications at Liverpool BID, said:

“This has been such an incredible summer programme that has seen a jump in footfall and a boost for businesses, which means that people have been excited to come outside and celebrate our city. The Last Day of Summer on the waterfront was particularly special for me. At 8am on Saturday morning you could see people rollerblading, enjoying an early morning stroll or getting into the dock for a swim. It reminded me of the importance of giving people a fresh perspective on the public spaces we might use everyday but not fully enjoy. This city is for all of us, and its public space is for all of us to use, be it families, teenagers or tourists. It’s our ambition at BID to make everyone feel welcome everywhere and to feel like every corner is for them”.

Mark Da Vanzo is Chief Executive of Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Theatres and is the Chair of Hope Street CIC and is on Liverpool BID’s Retail & Leisure Board, said:

“We are delighted to be introducing Hope Street Blend, an opportunity to enjoy one of Liverpool’s finest streets. With a Cathedral at either end, the vibrant hum of daily life, with music and art filling every doorway and space, it is one of my favourite places to be in the city. Celebrating our best assets is something I’m very proud to do, and I can’t wait to be able to welcome as many people as possible into our Hope Street venues”.

Tom from Arts Bar Hope Street, said:

“We’re so excited to be part of the Hope Street Blend, celebrating the creativity and community that makes Liverpool so unique. At Arts Bar, collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and this project is the perfect way to showcase that spirit.”
