Enthusiastic volunteers are needed to pitch in and make the 151st Open at Hoylake in Wirral the best one yet.
The Championship takes place from the 16th to the 23rd of July and Wirral Council, in collaboration with the organiser of The Open, R&A, are looking to recruit a wide range of reliable, friendly and approachable volunteers from across Wirral.
These will act as local, off course ambassadors during the Championship and will welcome visitors to Hoylake & West Kirby, provide directions and offer information about the local area.
The 151st Open Golf Championship Ambassadors Programme (off course) will also provide a unique opportunity for participants to develop new skills while showing visitors what a beautiful place Wirral is, as well as meeting likeminded people.
There will be multiple six hour volunteer shifts available throughout the week ranging between 6.30am and 9pm as the start and finish times vary throughout the days of the Championship.
Mark Camborne, Wirral Council’s Assistant Director, Neighbourhood Safety & Transport, said:
“This is a great opportunity to volunteer and help showcase Wirral as we host one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
“We will see tens of thousands of visitors attending every day of the Championship and we need local people with their local knowledge to help them make the most of their visit to our borough.”
To take part and register for the 151st Open Golf Championship Ambassadors Programme (off course) visit the website here.
Once registration is completed there will be an opportunity to book onto one of four Induction/Training Sessions, following which it will be possible to book on to volunteer shifts.
