Fernando Torres to return to Anfield for LFC Legends match

Next month, Liverpool FC Legends will face AFC Ajax Legends in the yearly LFC Foundation charity match, which will be presented by AXA, the official training partner of the club. Fernando Torres is set to join the Liverpool FC Legends team, marking his return to Anfield for the game.

For a period of three and a half years, El Niño represented Liverpool by playing in 142 matches and scoring 81 goals after he was signed from Atletico Madrid in 2007. He will now wear the well-known red shirt once again to support the LFC Foundation.

Torres will be making his first appearance for LFC Legends, and it will also mark his return to playing at Anfield since participating in an all-star charity game in 2015.

Fans will have the opportunity to witness the return of a modern-day hero on Merseyside, who quickly gained popularity among supporters with his remarkable start as he scored 33 times in his first season. He is 39 years old and will be seen in action on Saturday March 23, as LFC Legends take on their Ajax counterparts in L4.

A number of ex-Liverpool players have already been confirmed as part of the team, including Torres, along with fellow forwards Djibril Cisse and Ryan Babel.

Earlier this week, it was announced that the LFC Legends team will be under the leadership of a group of club legends consisting of Ian Rush, John Barnes, and John Aldridge. Additionally, the team will be joined by Sven-Goran Eriksson, a former England manager and a lifelong Liverpool fan, who will also be present in the dugout.

The fixture has already sold more than 43,000 tickets, with all of the proceeds going towards supporting the work of LFC Foundation and its charity partners.

The game is brought to you in association with Forever Reds and tickets can be purchased online here. Adult tickets are priced at £28, junior tickets at £8, and tickets for over 65s at £18. If you are a disabled supporter, you can visit the Accessibility Hub for full details on ticket sales.

Tickets for premium seating can be purchased starting at £50, while hospitality tickets begin at £150. For further information, please visit this page.

Additional players from the LFC Legends team will be revealed in the upcoming weeks prior to the match. Therefore, it is advisable to stay tuned to our various communication platforms to learn about the other participants.
