One of Ainsdale’s best-loved restaurants is celebrating a landmark anniversary after serving generations of diners for 40 years.
Dolce Vita first opened its doors on Station Road in 1986 and has gone on to become a firm favourite in the village, building a loyal following from Ainsdale, Southport and further afield.

Four decades later, the Italian restaurant continues to thrive, with busy weekends, hundreds of positive reviews and a reputation as one of the area’s most popular places to eat.
The current owners took over Dolce Vita in April 2023, becoming custodians of a name already steeped in Ainsdale history. Since then, the team has sought to preserve the character and heritage that made the restaurant so popular while continuing to develop its offering for a new generation of customers.
Dolce Vita has also become a popular meeting place for familiar faces from across the region, including local footballers and celebrities.
At the heart of its enduring appeal is authentic Italian cooking, with traditional recipes complemented by fresh and seasonal produce.

Its extensive à la carte menu includes antipasti, wood-fired pizzas, pasta, risotto, meat and seafood dishes.
Popular choices include Smoked Salmon Bucatini, Linguine Frutti di Mare and Lasagne al Forno, alongside pizzas ranging from the traditional Margherita to Nduja & Goat’s Cheese.
The restaurant’s signature Dolce Vita pizza combines dolce latte blue cheese, mozzarella and Parma ham.
Offering a little taste of Italy in Ainsdale, the restaurant has maintained the warm and relaxed atmosphere of a neighbourhood favourite, whether customers are visiting for a romantic meal, drinks with friends or a family celebration.
Its popularity is reflected in hundreds of positive customer reviews, with Dolce Vita holding a 4.6 out of five rating on Tripadvisor as well as receiving a Travellers’ Choice accolade.
The restaurant also offers a number of weekly favourites.
Thursday Steak Night includes two premium 8oz rump steaks and a bottle of house wine to share for £45.
Sundays have also developed a loyal following, with the restaurant serving its traditional Sunday Lunch between 12pm and 6pm.

Diners can choose from a selection of roast meats accompanied by all the traditional favourites, with one course priced at £22, two courses at £26 and three courses at £30.
Seasonal dishes and regularly changing specials provide further choice throughout the year.
Dolce Vita has continued to evolve beyond its menu too, with an outdoor terrace featuring its own stand-alone bar, all-weather umbrellas and heaters creating a space that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
A dedicated function room and heated conservatory are available for private celebrations, while larger groups can also be accommodated within the main restaurant.
Located just a two-minute walk from Ainsdale train station, with on-street parking available nearby, the restaurant is easily accessible for visitors travelling from across the area.
Margaret Murphy said:
“Dolce Vita has been part of Ainsdale for 40 years and we are incredibly proud to have been custodians of such a well-known and much-loved name.
“When we took over, we inherited a restaurant with a real history in the village. We wanted to respect that heritage while continuing to move it forward.
“Some customers have known Dolce Vita for decades, while others are discovering us for the first time, and that’s what makes it so special.
“Reaching 40 years is an incredible milestone. We’re enormously grateful for the support we receive and very excited about the next chapter.”
Forty years after Dolce Vita first appeared on Station Road, the restaurant remains a thriving part of village life, combining Italian food, warm hospitality and the familiar faces that have helped make it an Ainsdale institution.
