Everton manager David Moyes has shared his excitement ahead of Scotland’s upcoming international fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The club’s new waterfront home is preparing to host its first senior men’s international match, marking a significant milestone for the 52,769-capacity venue.
Scotland will take on Côte d’Ivoire on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, with a 7.30 pm BST kick-off.
The match forms part of Pitch International’s ‘Road to 26’ series and will see two nations who have qualified for this summer’s FIFA World Cup go head-to-head as they continue preparations for the tournament in North America.
In his programme notes ahead of Everton’s 3-0 win over Chelsea, the Blues manager spoke of his anticipation for the occasion and the atmosphere it would bring to the city.
A World Cup Warm-Up on the Mersey
Reflecting on the arrival of his home nation to the city, David Moyes said:
“I’m looking forward to seeing Ivory Coast host Scotland here.
“No doubt that night will see Liverpool full of lots of kilted men, and I hope you make them all welcome.”
He added his hope for local support, stating:
“No doubt many of you will be here yourselves, hopefully cheering Scotland on!”
Côte d’Ivoire, three-time Africa Cup of Nations winners, return to the World Cup for the first time in 12 years following an impressive unbeaten qualifying campaign.
Scotland, meanwhile, secured their place in dramatic fashion, ending a 28-year wait for a World Cup finals appearance with a decisive victory over Denmark with a crazy collection of goals spanning from the first few minutes to injury time.
Supporters can expect to see a host of top-level talent on show, including Everton’s Nathan Patterson, Napoli’s Scott McTominay, Aston Villa’s John McGinn, Manchester United’s Amad Diallo and former Crystal Palace captain Wilfried Zaha.
Establishing a Global Stage at Hill Dickinson Stadium
The fixture represents another important step in establishing Hill Dickinson Stadium as a major international venue, with the stadium set to play a key role on the global stage in the coming years.
As both sides fine-tune their preparations for the summer tournament, the event provides a platform to showcase the stadium’s capabilities for high-profile non-domestic fixtures.
Tickets for the FIFA World Cup warm-up match remain on general sale for supporters looking to be there for this historic first international fixture at Everton’s new stadium.
Ticket prices start from £27 for adults and £16 for under-16s, with seats available online via the Everton website or in person at the stadium box office.
A range of premium experiences within the stadium’s bars and restaurants are also available for those seeking a high-end matchday environment.
