Lord Street is buzzing with fresh energy as a stunning new addition joins the iconic boulevard as the brand new Coffee King is now officially open.
The opening marks a significant milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Southport town centre.
Opening its doors on Thursday, 30 April, just in time for the Big Top Festival and the May Bank Holiday weekend, this family-owned independent business is breathing new life into one of the street’s most beautiful historic buildings.
A Royal Opening
The official ribbon-cutting was performed by Coffee King CEO Sean Le Tissier alongside the Mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns.
Welcoming the very first customers into the elegant space, Sean Le Tissier shared his vision for the brand:
“Welcome to the official opening of our new Southport Coffee King store!
“I would like to thank everyone, I’d like to thank the Mayor of Sefton for coming, everyone else for coming.
“I would like to express my deep, deep gratitude to the team for making this real.
“We are a British company and we want to bring some of our traditions to the high street and really hope we will get lots of support in Southport, I think we will!
“Thank you to all our new customers, I am sure you will be pleased.”
The Mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns, added her support for the new venture:
“I’d like to give the best of luck to everyone at Coffee King.
“I am sure you will all enjoy it. I am sure it will be a great asset to Lord Street.”
Grandeur Meets Great Coffee

Housed within a beautifully restored former bank, previously occupied by Monsoon, Patisserie Valerie, and 92 Degrees, the venue is a masterclass in architectural preservation.
The building boasts a striking marble exterior, ornate high ceilings, and fabulous lighting that creates an elegant, memorable atmosphere in the heart of the town.
With floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views across towards Monument Square, the café provides a perfect vantage point for people-watching, supplemented by plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months.
Coffee King is positioning itself as more than just a place for a caffeine fix; the team aims to create a genuine community hub.
Situated perfectly between Occulo Lounge and Parkinson’s Books, it offers a welcoming space to meet friends or enjoy a quiet moment with a new read.
Beyond their carefully sourced, high-quality coffee, the menu features a range of food options and ice cream.
It is part of a wider wave of investment on this specific stretch of Lord Street, including the recently opened VS Jewels & Workshop, Drishti Point Yoga, and the upcoming climbing gym.
Whether you are a local resident or visiting for the Bank Holiday festivities, the team at Coffee King is ready to welcome you to a space where tradition meets the modern high street.
