Liverpool film fans can now experience cinema like never before as Cineworld Speke unveils the city’s very first 4DX screen, a fully immersive, multi-sensory format designed to turn blockbuster movies into adrenaline-fuelled adventures.

Already a viral hit on TikTok and a firm favourite in cities across the UK, 4DX is known as Cineworld’s “extreme cinema” experience, and now, following huge demand from locals, it’s finally landing in Liverpool.

What is 4DX?

This isn’t just watching a film, it’s feeling it.

The new 4DX auditorium features motion-synchronised seats and 18 different environmental effects, including wind, water, scent, fog, bubbles and strobe lighting — all precisely programmed to match the on-screen action in real time.

Think white-water rafting… with popcorn. Or skydiving… with a Pepsi in hand. The screen moves you, literally.

Opening Just in Time for Avatar

Launched on 19 December, the new 4DX screen was perfectly timed for the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, giving audiences the chance to fully immerse themselves in the world of Pandora.

Flying sequences will send wind rushing through your hair, while water scenes create a fine mist in the air, all enhanced by 3D visuals to deliver a truly transportive cinematic experience.

A Major Investment in Liverpool Cinema

The Speke launch forms part of Cineworld’s wider £35 million UK investment programme, aimed at upgrading cinemas nationwide with cutting-edge technology and improved comfort for guests.

For Liverpool, it marks a major step forward in next-generation entertainment — offering moviegoers something completely different from the traditional cinema trip.
