Nisha Katona, celebrity chef and Mowgli founder, and her beloved dogs visited Claire House Children’s Hospice to launch this year’s Mowgli Dog Show.
Nisha, the founder of Mowgli Street Food and a well-known food writer, joined some of the children and staff at the Bebington hospice.
Across Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Wales, the charity helps babies, children, young adults, and their families who are seriously or terminally ill.
Nisha visited precisely one month before the gates to the family-friendly two-day event at Claremont Farm open.
Dog lover Nisha said:
“The Mowgli Dog Show is my favourite day of the year.
“Today, I’ve come to meet some of the children and staff at Claire House to launch this year’s dog show.
“They’ve been doing lots of dog-themed art activities with the kids to celebrate our four-legged friends.
“Whenever I come here, I see first-hand why I launched the Mowgli Dog Show in the first place. Every penny of the profits goes to Claire House, helping families in Merseyside, which is my home turf.”
In addition to painting dog pots and decorating dog plates, the children also met Nisha’s dogs, Goose, Bear, and Dave.
Nisha, who appears regularly on popular TV shows such as This Morning and Great British Menu, added:
“Dogs edify our busy lives with their greetings, their smiles, their unswerving loyalty.
“Dogs give the Great British lifestyle a wag of muddy, humble contentment. The Mowgli Dog Show brings everyone together, all for the love of dogs and in aid of the wonderful Claire House.”
The Mowgli Dog Show, now in its sixth year, will take place on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
Together with children’s activities, live music, and funfair attractions, the event features ten dog competitions, local food, drink, and craft stalls.
Dan Halliday, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Claire House, thanked Nisha and Mowgli for making a difference to the lives of so many children and families who need help the most.
He said:
“We were delighted to welcome Nisha, and of course Goose, to Claire House Children’s Hospice today to officially launch the Mowgli Dog Show.
“With just one month to go, we’re excited about this year’s show returning to Claremont Farm. It’s a wonderful event that brings everyone together to celebrate our furry companions and raises funds and awareness for our children’s charity.”
